Background Checks

At Morningside Nannies our team works to gather as much information as possible about each candidate so that we can make an educated and informed decision on if a candidate is the right fit for our agency to refer and represent.

Before any nanny is added to our pool of temporary babysitters and nannies, in addition to completing an application and having an in-person interview, she must undergo a comprehensive background investigation.

All temporary nannies and babysitters must present a driver’s license, Social Security card, proof of automobile insurance and proof of eligibility to legally work in the United States.

Our criminal background check includes:

  • A multistate criminal court records search. In this search we check for criminal conviction records and arrests. We also check sex offender registries and department of corrections and traffic administrative court records.
  • Local county criminal records search. In this search we check Harris and surrounding counties for criminal records.
  • A Social Security number trace. By reviewing data gathered from credit reporting agencies to gather past addresses and names associated with the card number provided. This important information is then used to conduct additional searches.
  • A motor vehicle driving record check. The applicant’s driving history is reviews for violations.

All candidates must also provide contact information for all previous employers, both childcare related and not, as well as for personal and professional references.

Only upon successful completion of all steps in our background screening process and review of all information gathered is a candidate activated and referred to families for temporary nanny and babysitting jobs.

All of our temporary nannies and sitters must submit to periodic reviews and submit to having their background checks updated while they are active and available for referrals.

Morningside Nannies conducts all background screenings in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Background screenings typically take from two to five days to be completed.
